Monseigneur Girard

50m2 / 2 guests

This former guests apartment belonged to the Marquis de Tristan and was occupied by Prince Charles-Louis de Bourbon of Spain, from 1839 to 1845, and more recently by Monseigneur Girard, until 1999. Located on the 1st floor, with woodwork, this 60 m² suite includes a bedroom (bed 160cm), a kitchenette with a dining area and a living room with 2 beds (90cm). The floor boards are made of oak and the apartment has been decorated by an artist in the style of the 18th century, it is the perfect “pied-à-terre”.

Installation details

Vicar who lived here until 1999, Monsignor Girard, a great scholar, gave conferences, celebrated mass every morning in the dining room, transformed into a chapel, and wrote about the saints in Berry. It was he who decided on the right to celebrate mass in private chapels, which caused some friction with the local lords.

Today, he is still common, that during visits to our establishment, several elderly people tell us that they have known Bishop Girard.
